This is a brand new location on the Upper West Side and it’s better than ever! Jacob has really outdone himself with this spot. It’s big, spacious, beautifully decorated, and has such a warm, lively vibe. The service was just amazing; our server, Arielle, did a fantastic job helping us with menu selections and pairing dishes perfectly. We started with the Pick-4-Pickles...a must-try! The Candy Beets took me by surprise with how good they were. The Hot Sour Pickles were bold and flavorful, the Big Dill Culture Pickles were crisp and classic, and the Sweet & Spicy Carrots were absolutely delicious. All that flavor for such a great price! For drinks, both the non-alcoholic and alcoholic options were great. The Jacob’s Pickles Biscuit Beer was incredible... it paired beautifully with the Honey Chicken & Biscuit meal that came with cheesy grits (which were to die for). We also had the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese: extra cheesy, creamy, and full of flavor. And as a self-proclaimed French fry lover, I have to say..... these fries were amazing! Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft inside, and seasoned just right. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked beautiful. Honestly, you almost don’t want to eat it because of how pretty the presentation is. But the smell and aroma of the food make it impossible to resist. The ambiance is great... perfect for talking, relaxing, and enjoying THE GREAT food selections. Even the washrooms were spotless (which always says a lot about a restaurant). I’d definitely recommend making a reservation, because this place is already a hot spot on the Upper West Side. Highly recommend Jacob’s Pickles and I’ll definitely be coming back. It’s officially a new favorite.
The name of the game is portion control. Perfect southern comfort food with a lovely pickled twist. The portions are huge so be on alert. I want to give a shout-out to the appetizer chicken bites which were so good we were tempted to order more to take home. The food was delicious, I would recommend this place for brunch.
Love the new location, much bigger and brighter. Everything is great, the season pumpkin biscuits and pumpkin bread pudding is a must. Only one caveat - they no longer have my favorite chicken and pancake please bring it back!!
Amazing food and vibe! We went for a weekend brunch at 10am and the place was already very lively. We got the Southern BLT and sausage egg and cheese biscuit and both were delicious. I would totally order the Southern BLT again and it was the standout at our table. The grits weren’t great because they were too watery but everything else was superb
At Jacob’s Pickles, the food is plentiful whether you have a big appetite or would like to share a plate. We visited their newest location at 680 Columbus Avenue, on the Upper West Side, we had previously went for Brunch at the location on Amsterdam Avenue. My wife and I shared the “Western Cheese Omelette” and it did not disappoint, plenty of everything in it. Coffee is good and comes with free refills. The atmosphere was loud, if you like quiet, not the place for you even though once, you settle in, you belong. They also have a climate controlled outdoor terrace, great to suck up on the morning Sun. One of the highlights of our visit was the service. The place was packed however, our waitress and bus boy were always attentive and present. Definitely worth a visit, check it out. “Eat deliciously"
I have been wanting to try this spot for awhile so I was so pleased when I was in the area and able to snag a table early Saturday evening. I tried the cornbread, the okra, catfish tacos and the seasonal pumpkin biscuit beer. The beer was honestly the highlight of the meal, I seriously loved it so much. The okra was an incredible dish- I have only ever had deep fried okra and honestly didn’t know that there were other ways to prepare it but WOW. The seasoning was perfection and apparently the okra was pickled before it’s cooked which I think really evevates the flavors and yet it wasn’t too salty. It was cooked to the point of being a bit caremelized and crispy. Truly delicious. The only thing I’d say is it was a touch too oily for my tastes. And don’t get me wrong I am from the south so I get it, but to a point the extra oil becomes unnecessary. The cornbread was delicious and felt extremely gluttonous between the butter and cheese (that’s a good thing). I can’t say I’d recommend the catfish tacos but I would definitely go back to try something else. Not sure how the catfish was prepared but I have only ever had deep fried catfish and that’s how I prefer it and was expecting that type of more fluffy catfish that’s crispy on the outside. That was not the type of catfish that’s crispy was on these tacos, so they weren’t my favorite. I will say the portions are very generous- I’d want to come back with at least a few friends next time so we’re able to try more dishes! These three were more than enough for my friend and I. I also have to give props to the server, wish I got her name but she was awesome and everybody working there was really friendly. I hope to try it again next time I’m in the upper west side
My wife has been trying to get me here for years. It sure didn't disappoint. What a great spot. Perfect chicken, perfect biscuits and gravy, and if you don't sample the pickles while you're here- something is wrong. AMAZING BLOODY MARY. Seriously, eat here.
First time here and I thought it was great. The food was good , the chicken sandwiches were stacked!!! Definitely need a fork and knife just to eat it. Over all the chicken sandwiches were delicious and filling . Honestly I couldn't finish it . The biscuit it self wasn't all that. Mac and cheese was wowdefinitely a most !! Cheesey and creamy. And last fried pickles it was ehhh it could be better. The Service was excellent. I would definitely come back .
